Covid-19 Update

All face-to-face PDST CPD events scheduled between now and 5th May are postponed.

An announcement was made this morning by the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD of the closure of schools, pre-schools and further and higher education settings, for a period until 19 April 2020, to support efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. This will take effect from 6pm this evening, Thursday 12 March. This is in line with the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team.

In order to minimise the impact on teaching and learning all schools will be asked to continue to plan lessons and, where possible, provide online resources for students or online lessons where schools are equipped to do so. Schools are asked to be conscious of students that may not have access to online facilities and to consider this actively in their response.

We have created a dedicated section to Distance Learning with carefully curated resources and tools.

The PDST office will be closed until the morning of 20 April 2020 and this date may be extended in line with subsequent Government announcements.

We ask for you patience and understanding during this closure.  Office staff are working remotely as efficiently as possible and will try to respond to any queries in a timely fashion.

We will continue to post updates as events evolve.

Please check the Department website regularly for updates.
